Try to machine wash your merino garments as little as possible. First and foremost, after use, hang them outdoors and let them air out for a few hours.

Act quickly and attack the stain directly before it has a chance to set into the fabric. Mix lukewarm water and a few drops of dish soap, then gently rub with a cloth or sponge. You can read more about removing different types of stains here...

Place the garment in a laundry bag to protect it from the washing machine's internals. Use detergent specifically formulated for wool and then run the garment in the washing machine's wool or delicate cycle. Pay attention that the temperature should be a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and the revolutions per minute as low as possible.

If your washing machine lacks a wool or delicate cycle, you should hand wash your merino garments. Wash the garment gently in water no hotter than 30 degrees Celsius with detergent formulated for wool. Then rinse out the detergent and let it dry lying flat, preferably on a towel. Remember never to hang a wet merino garment on a hanger, as it will lose its shape.

Placing some pieces of cedar wood between your merino garments in the closet has many advantages. It emits a pleasant scent and keeps pests like moths away. Additionally, cedar wood absorbs moisture, preventing the formation of mold and other unpleasantness. Remember to wrap the wood pieces in a little paper to protect against cedar's natural wood oil.
