Sustain x Nabil Hussein – unique garments with a story
Behind the Instagram account @nabil_scotch is Nabil Hussein, a style-driven creative with an eye for detail that traces back to his childhood in Iraq. His fascination with clothing began early and grew during his years in Syria, Russia, and later Sweden, evolving to a deep passion for style, textiles, and craftsmanship. Alongside his work in logistics, Nabil pursues fashion as a hobby – but with a professionalism that is evident in every creation.
Inspired by classic film icons such as Al Pacino in The Godfather and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, and by hours spent in Italian vintage shops, Nabil has developed a personal style that blends timeless elegance with playful expression. On Instagram, he shares looks where tailoring, patterns and textures are always given a unique twist.
It was his eye for style and his interest in more sustainable fashion that first brought him to Sustain – Oscar Jacobson’s circular concept. When the Stockholm store opened in 2022, Store Manager Sebastian Dahlgren reached out, and the collaboration soon took shape. Together they explored how archived fabrics, samples and garments could be given a second life – as one-of-a-kind pieces.
The process is both creative and artisanal: Sebastian sources materials from the archive, Nabil develops ideas and sketches and brings them to life with the help of international tailors. The results are unique garments – from patchwork suits crafted from repurposed wool swatches to safari shirts made in small runs. The work involves close collaboration with tailors in Iraq, Morocco and Japan, each piece merging tradition with innovation.
For Nabil, working with Sustain is both a passion and a statement. Reimagining what already exists into something new and original is not only a creative challenge but also a way to inspire others. As he puts it:
“There’s so much history to draw from – why not preserve it instead of creating something entirely new?”
Today, several of Nabil’s one-of-a-kind creations can be found at the Sustain store in Stockholm. Each garment carries a story, not just of fabric and design, but of a vision to unite style, quality and care for the environment in a meaningful way.
